Nothing compares to a 1:24,000 scale, 7.5 minute USGS quadrangle. So we’ve wrapped all of the quads (They’re PDFs in high resolution) you need to explore the Kalmiopsis, Wild Rogue, Soda Mountain, Red Buttes, Siskiyou, Grassy Knob and Sky Lakes Wilderness Areas onto one thumbdrive. Load onto a computer or pad, or print for field use.

$150: Historic USGS Map, “Ashland” Quadrangle drafted in 1891

Step back in time with this 30″ USGS Map drafted before the days of aerial imagery, when Pilot Rock was called “Pilot Knob,” Mt. Ashland was labeled “Siskiyou Summit” and the rest of Southwest Oregon was still pristine wilderness. These old hand-scribed maps were drafted by hardy surveyors who used chain, compass, barometers and field sketches. The maps are stunningly accurate, and this one is available for a limited time only.

The 20,000 acre Red Buttes Wilderness is defined by sub-alpine ridge systems and lakes, diverse meadow ecosystems, and unique populations of conifers. Here you’ll find intact forests populated by species like Brewer’s spruce, Alaska cedar, hemlock, Douglas fir, ponderosa pine, and many, many more. Wildflower season explodes in its meadows.
